ASK MOTOROLA’s DESIGN DIRECTOR A QUESTION

Along with the support of The Podcast Network, we’ve managed to score an amazing opportunity. In the next week I’ll be interviewing Ignacio Germade, Motorola’s Design Director.

Recently Motorola has been responsible for some of the most beautifully designed mobile phones that I’ve seen hit the market: the RAZR, and PEBL. They remind me of the elegance that many complimented Apple on when they released the iPod. So, to be granted access to the team that conceived these pieces of 21st century art, is an awesome privilege.

So, here at TPN we’d like to share the opportunity with listeners. Ignacio’s bio is below. Have a read, and then think of some questions that you’d love for him to answer. Email them to me, and I’ll make sure that I ask those that I think are the most interesting. Be quick though, we only have a few days to prepare.

Ignacio heads Motorola’s UK and Singapore Design Centers, responsible for Motorola’s industrial and interface design across the EMEA and South Asia regions.

Prior to joining Motorola, Ignacio led the design groups in the multinational firms of Sapient and IDEO, and created global solutions for companies including Xerox, Polaroid, Fila and IBM.

His work has been reviewed in magazines including ID Magazine, Domus, Wallpaper and Creative Review, and in books such as ‘IDEO: Masters of Innovation’ and ‘ON-OFF: New Appliance Design’.

Ignacio has received awards including the IDSA Design Excellence Award, ID Interactive Media Awards and ID Magazine Awards. His work has been exhibited in Boston, London, and Hong Kong.

Ignacio studied design in Spain and the UK. He has taught classes and seminars at leading schools including the Rhode Island School of Design, the Massachusetts’ Art Institute and the Art Institute of Boston.
