Well, we’re more mobile than we were before. For example, if you happen to be out-and-about and hanker for the latest installment of The Gadget Show, and you don’t have it downloaded to your MP3 player already, then you can use your video enabled cell phone to surf over to ZooVision. Their service streams video and audio content (such as the show) to any phone with a phone that supports 3GP.

This might sound like a bit of a step backwards with the hype around RSS, but I believe that the future for data is hosted on the network. When the network speed catches up - we’re already there for audio - and the cost drops, then it makes sense to store everything centrally. In that future you don’t need to carry a spindle or memory around in your pocket, and you can forget the worry of losing data because they’ll back everything up for you. It might be early days, but it’s a fun look at what’s to come with subscription TV aimed at the cell phone market.
