Nokia Nseries.
While hanging about, waiting for the Australian iTunes Music Store, I had a look at the new Nokia Nseries mobile phones. Nice, very nice. As well as looking sexy, which some Nokia’s fail to do, the new features are definitely heading in the right direction.
All three phones in the series have Series 60 and 2 Megapixel cameras. I still believe that 3 Megapixels is the sweet spot, but the one that really catches my eye is the N91, a phone that come with a 4GB hard drive, especially made for music. Impressively it comes with a great range of file formats that it’ll support right out of the box. MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, Real V8, WAV, WMA, M4A, AWB, SP-Midi, AMR, WB-AMR, Nokia Ring Tones, AMR-NB, and AWB. They had me at MP3!
Another nice feature that’s really a necessity for camera phones to be really useful is the flash in the N70 and N90. There’s many a time that I haven’t been able to catch a moment on my 7610 because it’s been too dark.

Yeah, they are really nice phones. Personally, I prefer the N70!

N91 and N90 both look slick, but I have significant questions/concerns about the 2MP camera and Zeiss lens that no one seems to be able (willing) to answer. Several months ago Carl Zeiss and Dialog Semi announced a collaborative effort to develop camer chip modules with Zeiss lens. Therefore, although Nokia is mum, one must infer that the camera module/lens for the N91-90 resulted from the Zeiss/Dialog collaboration. Trouble with this possibility, though, is that Dialog doesn’t make a 2 MP CMOS sensor (it’s tech development in this area is yrs behind the leaders).
In light of all this, who makes the 2 MP sensor for the N91 and N90 phones? And is a different 2 MP sensor in the N70 (since it doesn’t have a Zeiss lens)?
