Tiger To Ship April 29.
Splashed across Apple’s main web page is the announcement many Apple fans have been waiting for over the last few months. Tiger, version 10.4 of their OS X operating system will be available on April 29.
People in the know tell me that Spotlight, an OS search tool, is the killer app. Quick and incredibly comprehensive. It is also integrated into Mail.
Search your entire system from one place: Files, emails, contacts, images, calendars and applications appear instantly.
Personally I’m also looking forward to Safari RSS. I’ve grown a bit weary of NetNewsWire and other OS X aggregators seem to lack the stability and grunt that I’m looking for. I’m hoping that this integration will foster greater versatility.
Now, I’ve just got to figure out where I’ll get the 229 Aussie dollars it’ll set me back.

Check out NewsMac (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13793). I’ve been using it for a few months now, and I like it a lot. I used Feed (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25689) for a while, which has an interface modelled on Mail.app. Both, unlike NetNewsWire, are free. Integrated RSS in Safari sounds interesting, but I like Firefox more. I tried the Sage extension (http://sage.mozdev.org/) for Firefox, but I’m happier with separate web browsing and RSS.
