I mentioned the other day some information that has been coming out about Microsoft’s next generation game console, all from developers at the Game Developers Conference this week. I should also add that Microsoft made their own announcements about Xbox at the event. The most fascinating snippet, besides the hardware, is the marketplace with micro-payment facility in the Xbox Live network. Gamers might not fancy buying extension packs for the games they own, but paying a couple of dollars here or there for new levels, or a one-of-a-kind skin for their games car might make parting with money much easier. What would elevate the system even further would be providing a method for users to add their own extensions, skins, or elements up for sale. Why not create a community like a gamers eBay.
