The Gadget Show Is Go.
G’day all. My name’s Richard Giles. You might remember me from such blogs as Gadget Lounge and Richard Giles blog. I love gadgets. I scour the internet for the latest of news. I’m born to the fold of gadget nerds that stalk the night in search of the latest fix. But who am I really.
My gadget fetish hit full stride in the early eighties with the first real techno related social networks of the Commodore 64 gaming sneaker nets. In those days it was an art, building a network of acquaintances that could provide jewels of gaming exquisiteness. Using Zzap!64 as our guide, we were lead to classics like Seven Cities of Gold, Pitfall, Ghostbusters, Impossible Mission, Summer Games II, Leader Board, Paradroid, Monty on the Run and Elite. A fountain of gaming history.
In the early nineties I worked for Hutchison Telecom UK (now Orange) in Technical Support. I was one of the first to show that cloning mobile phones was common place, and helped people unlock bricks when they’d forgotten their code. Back then there was a lot of little tricks you could pull with the handsets themselves. Now you’d use them as a paper weight.
I currently work for Sun Microsystems Australia, have done for the last 8 years. In that time I’ve had the chance to play with a 64 CPU Sun Enterprise 10000, installed a plethora of networking technology, worked on rotation for several weeks with the graphics team in Menlo Park, and helped sell millions in network computing. The gadget lust is still there, they just got bigger and more expensive.
I’m here to represent you. Average people by day, gadget junkies by night. I’ll search the net for the latest and greatest, and I’ll chat with like minded or those we wish to worship. Either way, the aim is to fill your pod, robe, river or rio with news, reviews and interviews to calm the gadget shakes.
This is a two way conversation, so please, feel free to comment, make suggestions, or throw leads my way.

Hey,
do any of you computer nerds know if I can custom design a gadget?
I’m looking for a pda/cell phone/digital camera/camcorder/video iPod all in one.
Oh yeah, I want it to be a little smaller than the Blackberry 8700 and it should work with the flash memory cards.
Make it happen.
