The first “Gadget Show” podcast…featuring Cory Doctorow
Here’s the first official Gadget Show podcast.
With only a small window to have a chat, I speak with a multitasking Cory Doctorow in Geneva, just before he dashes off to the United Nations to talk “The Access To Knowledge Treaty”. We have fun talking about a whole gaggle of gadgets and related technology and freedoms. He also takes the piss out of Aussies and sheep.
Cory’s an incredibly interesting guy, living in London, writing his novels, blogging at Boing Boing and working for the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). I’ve always wondered how he fits it all in, and given the multitasking he sounds like he’s doing on the Skype call, I think I now understand how.
If you haven’t already, check out his books, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, Eastern Standards Tribe, and his short story collection A Place So Foreign And Eight More, all available for download under a creative commons license, or in any good bookstore. He’s wonderfully creative.

What a great start to this podcast show. I like the authentic “laptop keyboard taps” on Cory’s side. Gives it a great sense of being inside Cory’s hectic life.

I’ve had the opportunity to interview some smart and interesting people in the last year, and I’m really looking forward to chatting with a bunch more in the next twelve months. […]
